Okay, so yesterday I finally made it out to Heart Lake in Anacortes. I’ve been meaning to go for ages, and the weather was just perfect, so I grabbed my gear and headed out.
Getting There
The drive was pretty straightforward. I just followed the directions and got there without problem. It was a perfect day.

Hitting the Trail
I parked the car, shouldered my backpack and start walking on the road. The place were crowded with lots families and dogs. I checked the map they had posted and decided to go around the lake counterclockwise, just to get a feel for the place.
- The trail was pretty well-maintained, so my old shoes could handle it.
- Lots of shade, which was great because it was starting to warm up.
- I even saw a few deer off in the distance! So cool.
Taking It All In
I found some rocks by the water and enjoy the sunshine.
I just sat there for a good while, enjoying the peace and quiet. It was exactly what I needed.
Wrapping Up
After my relaxing, I finished the loop. I was feeling pretty good – a little tired, but mostly just refreshed. I packed up my stuff, headed back to the car, and drove home with my good mood.
All in all, it was a fantastic day. I’m definitely planning on going back to Heart Lake soon. Maybe I’ll even try one of the other trails next time.
