Okay, so today was all about hitting up Velzyland on Oahu. I’d heard whispers about it being this kinda low-key, epic surf spot, and, well, I had to see it for myself.
Getting There and First Impressions
First things first, finding the place. It’s tucked away, not like, super secret, but you definitely need to know where you’re going. I punched it into my phone’s GPS, and boom, there it was. A little bumpy road action, some residential area navigating, and suddenly… paradise.
I parked, grabbed my board, and walked down this little path. You can hear the waves before you even see them. And then, BAM! This incredible view opens up. It’s this long, gorgeous stretch of beach, not too crowded, with these amazing waves rolling in.
The Surf
I’m no pro, let’s be clear. But the waves at Velzyland? Man, they were perfect. Not too crazy big, but with enough punch to keep things interesting. I paddled out, heart kinda thumping, and caught a few. Seriously, the ride was so smooth. It felt like the wave was just carrying me along.
I spent at least 3 hours.I was paddling out, waiting for the waves to appear, and then going with the waves, it’s a wonderful process.
The Vibe
The best part, aside from the waves, was the whole vibe. Everyone was just chill. There were a few locals, some families, other surfers just hanging out. No one was hassling anyone, just sharing the stoke. I even chatted with a couple of guys who gave me some pointers on the best spots to catch the waves.
Winding Down
Eventually, my arms felt like jelly, and the sun was starting to dip. I paddled back in, feeling that awesome kind of tired you only get after a good day in the water. I sat on the beach for a bit, just watching the waves, and feeling super grateful for the experience.
Final Thoughts
Velzyland? Totally lived up to the hype. It’s one of those places that just makes you feel good. Good waves, good people, good vibes. If you’re on Oahu and looking for a spot to surf, or even just chill on a beautiful beach, definitely check it out. You won’t regret it.
