Okay, so today I decided to tackle something a bit different – a “community fyis crossword.” I’d seen these floating around, and figured, why not? Sounds like a fun little challenge, right? Plus, it’s supposed to be all about local happenings and stuff, which I’m always trying to stay on top of.
First, I googled around to see what exactly to expect. I found a few examples, and, Man, the design of some look real ancient! I picked one that looked simple enough – just a basic grid, no fancy graphics or anything. I mean, who has time for that? I just wanted to get to the clues!
Then I started working through the clues. Some were super easy, like “Name of local park.” Boom, done. Others were a little trickier, like “New restaurant on Main Street.” I had to think about that one for a bit, but then I remembered driving past it the other day – score!
- “Name of local park?” Easy peasy.
- “New restaurant on Main Street?” Took a sec, but I got it.
- “Mayor’s last name?” Okay, had to Google that one.
There were a couple that totally stumped me, though. Stuff about local history, and I’m like, “When did that even happen?!” So yeah, a little bit of Googling was involved. No shame in that, right? It’s all about learning!
I spent a good hour on this thing, maybe a bit more. It was definitely a nice way to kill some time, plus it was cool to test my knowledge of what’s going on around here. Kind make me proud I can get most of the answers right.
My Final Thoughts
Overall, I’d say it was a pretty good experience. Would I do it again? Probably! It’s a fun way to learn things. You guys should give it a try sometime. Just search for “community fyis crossword” and your town’s name. You might be surprised at what you know…and what you don’t!
