Okay, so I wanted to put together a quick reference for the 2015 Ohio State Buckeyes football roster. You know, for my own notes and maybe for anyone else who’s a big fan like me. It’s surprisingly hard to find this stuff all in one place sometimes, so I figured, why not just build it myself?
First, I started by hitting up the usual spots – the official Ohio State Buckeyes website, some sports news sites, you know the drill. I figured they’d have the most accurate and up-to-date info. The problem? They usually just show the current roster, not the one from back then. So that was a bit of a dead end at first.

Digging Deeper
Then I remembered the Wayback Machine! That thing is a lifesaver for finding old web pages. So, I typed in the Ohio State football website URL and set the date to sometime in 2015. Bingo! I found a few snapshots of the roster page from around that time.
It wasn’t perfect, though. The formatting was a little wonky, and I had to click through a few different dates to make sure I was getting the most complete version. But hey, it was a start!
Compiling the Data
Next, I opened up a simple spreadsheet. Nothing fancy, just something to organize the names, positions, numbers, and maybe some other basic info. I started copying and pasting the information from the Wayback Machine into my spreadsheet. It was a little tedious, to be honest, lots of back and forth, making sure I didn’t miss anyone.
- Column 1: Player Name
- Column 2: Jersey Number
- Column 3: Position
- Column 4: height
- column 5: weight
After I got all the names in, I went back and filled in the positions and numbers. I also added columns for height and weight, just because I thought that might be useful. Again, all this info came from those archived web pages.
There are quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, offensive line, defensive line, linebacker, defensive back, and some special teams roles.
It took a while, but I finally had a pretty solid list. It’s not perfect, and there might be a few errors here and there, but it’s way better than what I had before! I feel pretty good about having my own little archive of that amazing 2015 team. Go Buckeyes!
