Okay, so I stumbled upon this “Family of Strangers” book and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I’ve been trying to get back into reading, and this seemed like a decent pick.
Getting Started
First things first, I grabbed the book. I actually went to a physical bookstore – yeah, those still exist! – because I wanted the whole experience. Felt kinda nostalgic, browsing the shelves and all.

The Reading Process
I started reading it on my commute. That’s like 30 minutes each way on the train, perfect for getting some chapters in. Honestly, at first, I was a bit lost. So many characters, so many names! I actually considered making a little family tree diagram, but then I thought, “Nah, let’s just power through.”
And I am persistant. I just kept reading a little bit every day. During my lunch breaks, I’d sneak in a few pages. Before bed, I’d read a chapter or two. It became a routine, you know?
There were times I got frustrated. Like, “Who is this person again? Wait, what just happened?” But I pushed myself to keep going. Sometimes I’d flip back a few pages to refresh my memory, which helped.
The Payoff
It took me a while – maybe a couple of weeks? – but I finally finished it! It was a pretty good feeling. It can’t be said that I deeply love it, I mean, a bit hard to follow in some places, but I got through it, and I felt like I’d accomplished something.
I am so happy. I’d recommend it, I guess. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re looking for something a little different, give it a try. And hey, even if you don’t love it, you can still say you read it, right?
