Okay, so I had a flight to catch out of Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (Sea-Tac) with United Airlines the other day, and let me tell you, it was… an experience. I figured I’d jot down my whole process, just in case it helps someone else out there navigating the wild world of Sea-Tac.
Getting There and Parking
First things first, I had to get to the airport. I decided to drive and park, because, honestly, I hate relying on other people for rides. I pre-booked my parking online, which I highly recommend. It saved me some serious cash and a lot of stress.

I followed my GPS instruction, driving to the airport.
Check-in and Security
I’d already checked in on the United app (lifesaver!), so I had my boarding pass on my phone. I didn’t have to do anything about my checked bags. The line was long, but I have my boarding pass, so everything was going smoothly.
I went through security, and honestly, it wasn’t as bad as I’d feared. I took everything off my body, and I don’t have to take my laptop out of my bag, and everything was fine.
Finding My Gate
Sea-Tac is HUGE, so finding my gate was the next adventure. I followed the signs, which, thankfully, were pretty clear. United usually operates out of the A and B gates, and mine was in the A concourse.
I walked. And walked. And walked some more. Seriously, bring comfortable shoes to this airport.
The United Lounge (A Little Treat)
I have the United Explorer credit card, which gets me a couple of United Club passes each year. Since I had some time to kill, I decided to use one. Finding the lounge was, well, a quest. It was a nice little, calm place to escape the airport chaos.
- I grabbed some free snacks.
- I found a comfy chair.
- Charged my phone.
- Enjoyed the free Wi-Fi.
It’s a pretty sweet deal if you have access to it.
Boarding and Beyond
Finally, it was time to board. I headed back to my gate, listened for my boarding group to be called (Group 2, thank you very much), and scanned my boarding pass on my phone. Easy peasy.

The flight itself was… a flight. Nothing too remarkable, but at least I got to my destination in one piece!
I looked out the * plane took * all is going well.
So, that was my United Airlines Sea-Tac experience. My main takeaways? Pre-book parking, use the app, wear comfy shoes, and if you can, find a lounge to hide in. Good luck out there!
