Okay, so I was super curious about finding the biggest tree in Washington State, right? So I decided to make it a weekend mission. It all started with some online digging.
My Little Adventure Begins
First, I spent a good chunk of Saturday morning just Googling around. I typed in stuff like “largest tree Washington” and “giant trees Washington state.” I found some promising leads, mostly pointing towards Olympic National Park. It seems like that place is a haven for huge trees. I noted down a couple of names that kept popping up: Queets Spruce and Quinault Lake Cedar.

Getting My Bearings
Next up, I wanted to get a better sense of where these trees actually were. I fired up Google Maps and started plotting. I figured out that Olympic National Park is pretty massive, so I needed to be strategic about my visit. I decided to focus on the Quinault Lake area, because it seemed easier to access and had a couple of contenders for the “biggest tree” title.
Hitting the Road
Sunday morning, I packed a backpack with water, snacks, and my trusty camera. I hopped in my car and started the drive. It was a beautiful drive, I have to say, and I was getting really excited. After a few hours, I arrived at the Quinault Rain Forest Loop Drive. Perfect!
Into the Forest
I parked the car and hit the trails. The forest was amazing – so green and lush. I followed the signs towards the Quinault Lake Cedar. I walked for maybe 20 minutes, soaking it all in, when suddenly, there it was. Wow.
This tree was HUGE. I mean, seriously, pictures don’t do it justice. I spent a good hour just circling it, taking photos, and trying to wrap my head around how old and massive it was. I even tried to hug it, but my arms barely made it a fraction of the way around!
Mission Accomplished?
Later, I also checked out another big tree nearby, but the Quinault Lake Cedar was definitely the star of the show. Honestly, I’m still not 100% sure if it’s the absolute largest tree in Washington, but it’s certainly the largest I’ve ever seen. It was an awesome experience, and it just makes me want to explore more of these amazing forests we have here.
I took a lot more pictures and I will show them to you, I will find a good website to store them.
