Okay, so yesterday I decided to dive deep into Jane’s Addiction’s Seattle show. I’ve been a fan forever, but I wanted to really get the vibe of that specific performance, you know?
First, I started by just listening to the audio. I found a pretty good recording online – not perfect, but good enough to get a feel for the energy. I cranked it up and just let it wash over me. Perry Farrell’s voice was just insane, and the crowd was going wild.
Then, I wanted more. Just listening wasn’t enough. I started digging around for videos. Found some shaky, low-quality clips, but even those were awesome. You could see the band just thrashing around on stage, and the audience was a sea of movement.

After that, I got curious about the setlist. I found a website that listed all the songs they played that night. Seeing the order of the songs, and imagining how the show flowed, that really helped me piece it all together.
I even spent some time looking up reviews of the show from back in the day. Reading what other people experienced, their memories of that night, it added another layer to my own little “research project.” It was like I was time-traveling, almost.
Finally, I listened to the audio again, this time with all this extra context in my head. It was a totally different experience. I could almost see the band, feel the energy of the crowd, and understand the flow of the show. It was like I was there, in a weird way.
So yeah, that’s how I spent my evening, totally immersed in Jane’s Addiction’s Seattle gig. It might sound kinda nerdy, but it was actually really fun and satisfying. I feel like I appreciate that performance on a whole new level now.
