Okay, so the other day I was thinking about making a big pot of curry goat for a get-together. But first, I needed to figure out how much it was all gonna cost. I really had no idea what goat meat prices were like these days, so I started digging around.
First, I hit up my local butcher shop. I figured they’d have a good idea, and they usually do, but I wanted to make sure.
After that, I decided to check a few of the bigger grocery stores nearby. I figured the prices might be a bit different there, maybe a little cheaper if I was lucky.
My Findings
- The butcher shop was selling it for, like, a premium price. I knew they have good stuff quality.
- The grocery stores were a bit of a mixed bag. One had it pretty cheap, which made me wonder about the quality. Another was somewhere in the middle.
Then I thought, “Why not check online?” So, I spent some time on my phone, looking at different websites. This was interesting, because there was a HUGE range of prices. Some places were selling it frozen, others fresh. It all depended on where it was coming from and how much you were buying.
After all that, I felt like I had a pretty good handle on the situation. I decided to go with the mid-range option from one of the grocery stores. It seemed like the best balance of price and quality, and I’ve had good luck with their meat before.
It’s a lot more work than I thought. But now I know what to expect next time!
