Okay, so I’ve been wanting to get Dak Prescott’s signature for a while. I’m a huge Cowboys fan, and he’s, well, he’s Dak! I figured it couldn’t be that hard, right? Wrong!

First, I tried going to a training camp practice. I thought, “Easy, he’ll be signing stuff after practice.” I got there super early, found a good spot, and waited. And waited. Turns out, getting close enough to even see Dak, let alone get an autograph, was like trying to win the lottery.

Next, I looked into those paid signing events. You know, the ones where athletes sit at a table and sign stuff for a fee? Seemed like a sure thing! But wow, those prices were insane. I mean, I love Dak, but I also love, you know, eating.

My “Brilliant” Plan

So, I came up with this “brilliant” plan. I found out where the Cowboys’ practice facility was. My thinking was, maybe I could catch him coming in or going out. I’m not proud of it, but I parked across the street, kind of hidden, and waited. For hours. I felt like a total stalker, and all I got was a sunburn and a parking ticket.

Feeling defeated, I decided to give one last shot, I go home and search for another way to get his signature. I found there is a mail. I prepared a nice letter, a photo of Dak that I wanted him to sign, and a self-addressed stamped envelope (important!). I double-checked everything, triple-checked it, and then mailed it off, fingers crossed.

Weeks went by. Nothing. I’d pretty much given up hope. Then, one day, there it was! My envelope, back in my mailbox. I ripped it open, and there was the photo, with Dak’s signature, clear as day! I was so excited; I nearly did a victory dance in the middle of the street.

So, the lesson here? Sometimes, the simplest way is the best. And maybe, just maybe, don’t stalk your favorite quarterback. It doesn’t work.
