Okay, so yesterday I decided to check out Bluffton, Texas. I’d heard some things about it, mostly that it’s a pretty small, quiet place. I was looking for a little getaway, nothing fancy, just a change of scenery.
First, I looked it up online. You know, just the basic stuff – where it is, what’s around. Found out it’s right on the Colorado River, which sounded promising. I’m no fisherman, but I like the idea of being near water.

So, I hopped in the car and drove out there. It’s not a super long drive, thankfully. Mostly country roads, which I actually prefer. Less traffic, more cows.
Getting There
Getting to Bluffton was pretty straightforward. I just followed the map on my phone, and it took me right there. No wrong turns, which is always a win in my book.
Exploring the town
- It’s small all right!
- A quiet place!
Once I got there, I just started driving around. It’s a really small town, like, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it small. There’s a general store, which is kind of the hub of everything. I stopped in, grabbed a soda, and chatted with the person at the counter. Super friendly, gave me the lowdown on the area.
Then, I headed down to the river. There’s a little park area there, nothing too developed, just a nice place to sit and watch the water flow by. I spent a good hour there, just relaxing, listening to the birds, and soaking up the peace and quiet. It was exactly what I was looking for.
End of the day
I did notice a couple of places to eat. Nothing fancy, just basic, they call home-style cooking.
After that, it started getting late, and I headed back home. It wasn’t a wild adventure or anything, but it was a good day. Sometimes, you just need to slow down and appreciate the simple things, and Bluffton was perfect for that.
And I got home safely!
