Okay, so I had this crazy thing happen to me the other day, and I just had to write it down. It’s about this “hit and run” situation in Austin, TX. I wasn’t directly involved, thankfully, but it was close enough to shake me up.
It all started when I was driving home from work. I was on I-35, just cruising along, listening to the radio. Traffic was a little heavy, as usual for that time of day.

Witnessing the Incident
- I noticed some erratic driving a few cars ahead. Someone was weaving in and out of lanes, tailgating, the whole nine yards.
- Then, BAM! I saw this car slam into the back of another car. It wasn’t a little fender-bender, either. It was a pretty hard hit.
- The car that got hit, spun out a bit and hit barrier, and the other car, the one that did the hitting, just…kept going! They didn’t even slow down. I mean, what did i just whitness!
My Reaction and Actions
I was totally shocked. My first instinct was to pull over and help, I pulled my car to the side of the road.
I immediately called 911 and reported what I saw, I remembered the make and model of the car, also part of the license plate. It all happened so fast. I stayed on the line with the operator, giving them as much detail as I could, staying until the police and ambulance got to the scene.
The Aftermath
I still don’t know what happened to the person in the car that got hit. I really hope they’re okay. The whole thing made me realize how quickly things can change, and how important it is to pay attention on the road, and how some drivers are just nuts.
It just goes to show, you never know what you’re going to see out there. Stay safe, everyone, and please, if you ever see anything like this, do the right thing and report it. You might save a life, just with remembering the most little detail!
