Okay, so I decided to check out this “Anacortes Haunted Forest” thing. I’d heard some buzz about it, seen some pictures online, and figured, why not? It sounded like a fun, spooky little adventure.
First, I looked up the basic info – where it was, when it was open, ticket prices, all that jazz. Found out it’s at this place called Causland Memorial Park, seems simple enough. I grabbed a couple of friends, because, you know, safety in numbers and also who wants to be scared alone?

Getting There and First Impressions
We drove out there, and honestly, the drive itself was pretty scenic. Anacortes is a beautiful town. We parked, got our tickets, and stood in line, buzzing with that nervous anticipation. It was already getting dark, which definitely added to the vibe.
Once we got in, it was immediately clear they’d put some effort into this. There were these creepy-looking trees, some fog rolling around, spooky lights, and sounds… the whole nine yards. My friends and I were already jumping at shadows, and we hadn’t even seen any actors yet!
Into the Woods
We started walking through the forest paths, and that’s when things really picked up. There were people dressed up as zombies, ghosts, scary clowns… all the classics. They’d jump out from behind trees, chase after you a little, make scary noises. It was all good, cheesy fun.
- One zombie guy really got me good. I swear, he popped up out of nowhere!
- There was this one section with strobe lights and a chainsaw noise that was super disorienting. I almost tripped over a root!
- My friend Sarah is terrified of clowns, so she was basically clinging to me the whole time. Hilarious.
The Verdict?
We made it through the whole thing in about, I don’t know, 20-30 minutes? It wasn’t super long, but it was definitely a good time. We were laughing, screaming, and generally just having a blast. Afterward we go grab some coffee, still talking about the experience.
If you’re looking for a fun, spooky, and not-too-serious haunted house experience, I’d definitely recommend checking out the Anacortes Haunted Forest. It’s a good way to spend an evening with friends, get a few scares, and enjoy the Halloween season. Just watch out for those clowns!
