American Olympic Flag: Learn the Rules & Etiquette for Displaying

Okay, so I wanted to make an American Olympic flag, you know, for the upcoming games. Thought it would be a cool project to try out.

Getting Started

First, I gathered all my materials. I needed:

  • Red, white, and blue fabric – of course!
  • Some sturdy white fabric for the base.
  • Scissors.
  • Needle and thread (or a sewing machine if you have one, which, sadly, I don’t).
  • A ruler or measuring tape.
  • A pencil.

The Process

I started by cutting out the base of the flag. I decided to make it a reasonable size, something I could hang up easily.I used my ruler make sure my base is rectangle.

Then, I cut the red and white fabric into strips. It’s a simple design, but it does take some time to get those strips even.

Next, the tricky part – sewing! I pinned the stripes onto the white fabric base, alternating red and white.I make sure it looks okay.

Slowly but surely, I sewed the stripes on. Straight lines are key here, and let me tell you, hand-sewing takes patience! But I think I did great job, it just takes a bit long time.

For the blue part, I carefully cut out a rectangle from the blue fabric and then sewed it onto the top left corner of the flag.

Final Result

And… that’s it! My very own American Olympic flag. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s got that homemade charm, you know?

It took an afternoon, but I think it’s worth to do that.
